Discovery Art Fair • A Creative Hub Between Galleries, Artists and Collectors
April 29th to May 1st, 2022 | Opening April 28th, 2022 – XPOST in Cologne
Cologne, Germany and Beyond – discover and connect through art
As a young fair celebrating its seventh edition in 2021, Discovery Art Fair (formerly known as KÖLNER LISTE) has set an objective to become the key forum for new, progressive and promising contemporary galleries and artists. Looking beyond the city borders, the art fair aims to bring together up-and-coming galleries and creatives from all over the world, thus becoming the prime spot for collectors who seek something new. The art will range from museum-like exhibitions, over art pieces influenced by the modern era, to broad-minded contemporary practices originating from Cologne, Germany and around the world.
A team of curators gathered around the idea to launch the Discovery Art Fair as the most exciting young art fair in the area. Each of them brought their individual vision of the contemporary art market, seasoned with experience, forward thinking and diversity. Ensuring a first-rate exhibition and trade show, allowed the event to quickly establish itself as a fair of discovery for visitors and collectors from Germany and the worldwide art scene.
Centre stage takes the Contemporary Fine Art Section. Designed to reflect the variety of art presented, this part of the fair will host a selection of art galleries, with a special segment dedicated to single artist booths. Roaming through the Contemporary Fine Art section, we expect collectors and art lovers to learn about the latest trends in the international art scene, but also to find their way to their absolutely favorite piece of art. The section aims to present art without boarders, unburdened by tradition or by a background of the artist. It’s focused mainly on elevating each single artwork in order to find their match within the collecting crowd.
With focus on emerging contemporary art and the rejuvenation of the international art market, the art fair hopes to spark the interest of long-time collectors and first-time buyers alike. Viewing the art show, the collectors will be able to define their search and find the right additions to their collections without overspending. We would love to satisfy both the requirements set by experienced buyers and the curiosity of the new ones. Contemporary art at affordable price is equally attractive to all, especially with knowledge that the quality is vouched for.
Discover the Contemporary Art Scene at the Art Fair Ruled by Diversity
Running under the sign of Discovery, the range of artwork at the fair’s Contemporary Fine Art Section promises a broad selection. Each gallery and artist brings their latest and best features to the exhibitions, while the media will include painting, sculpture, prints, mixed media pieces, installations, video art and even performance! In addition to the unique works of art, certain dedicated exhibitors will prepare special editions that will allow art lovers to buy high-quality art at a reasonable price.
Discovery Art Fair is set on serving as a creative hub between gallery, artist and collector, engaging all of them in conversation and exchange with its welcoming and open atmosphere.
Cologne’s Art Landscape
Although Cologne stands fourth in Germany in terms of size, this Rheinland city has proven itself a true international art centre many times over. As the birthplace of one of the oldest European art fairs, it is today one of two main art market capitals in the country. A paradise for art lovers, Cologne art gallery scene has grown even stronger over the past decade and is still booming today. Many of the city’s museums and cultural spots attract visitors from around the world, as the medieval, classical and contemporary styles mix and exist in harmony. Museum Ludwig and its companions stand in the centre of Cologne evoking both ancient and more recent history, as the gallery realm spreads all over this West German city.
With a fresh concept, the fair will present a special Contemporary Fine Art Section – a place where galleries, artists and collectors unite.
