Art has always been a language of connection: a way to bridge distances not only between countries but between ways of seeing and feeling. Artertain Gallery embodies this philosophy, creating pathways between the Korean and European art scenes. Through its exhibitions, residencies, and cultural programs, Artertain fosters genuine exchange between artists shaped by different worlds yet united in curiosity and expression.

A New Gallery in Düsseldorf
With the launch of its German chapter, Artertain_G, the gallery steps confidently into Europe’s art landscape. Düsseldorf, with its historic Kunstakademie and vibrant network of museums and project spaces, offers fertile ground for the gallery’s next phase. Artertain’s vision is clear: to become a “cultural gateway connecting Eastern and Western contemporary art.”
This new space will serve as more than a gallery. It will function as a hybrid platform combining exhibition, residency, and dialogue. Artists from Seoul and Düsseldorf will share studios, ideas, and audiences, blurring the lines between local and global. Through this model, Artertain seeks to expand understanding of contemporary Korean art while nurturing cross-cultural collaboration and experimentation within Germany’s dynamic scene.

Discovery Art Fair: A Cross-Cultural Constellation
At the upcoming Discovery Art Fair in Frankfurt, Artertain will present ten artists whose works speak to one another across continents: Jin Kim, Jeongmin Yoon, Jun Ho Cho, Kwangjoon Song, Seungro Lee, Sooyoung Han, Soojin Kim, Sohyun Bahn, Yookyung Kim, Yoojin Kim, and Roman Klonek. Most of the artists hail from Korea, while Roman Klonek, a Polish-born, Germany-based printmaker, bridges the cultural dialogue from the other side. Known for his vividly humorous woodcuts infused with Japanese visual elements, Klonek’s work exemplifies Artertain’s ethos – where Eastern thought and Western form meet in creative resonance.

Themes of Memory, Perception, and Renewal
A thread of reflection runs through the selected works.
Sooyoung Han and Yoojin Kim explore the layered nature of memory, reconstructing fragments of experience into living images. Soojin Kim examines emotion through absence, portraying detached bodies that reveal the quiet psychology of modern life. Yookyung Kim’s hybrid “Crow-Human” figure symbolizes transformation and adaptation, while Seunghoon Lee’s meditative digital paintings investigate emptiness as potential, a central theme in East Asian philosophy.
Meanwhile, Jin Kim’s architectural abstractions and Roman Klonek’s meticulously structured woodcuts share an unexpected dialogue: both artists use form to probe the tension between control and play, introspection and humor.

Diverse Media, Shared Sensibility
The exhibition encompasses a range of media, including painting, sculpture, installation, and digital media. Yet despite this diversity, the collection is united by a lyrical sensibility, a humanistic approach that prioritizes empathy, balance, and contemplation. Each work invites viewers to slow down, to look not only at but through the image, discovering reflections of their own inner landscapes.
