31 March 2016 The KÖLNER LISTE will be held at the Carlswerk, parallel to Art Cologne from April 15th to 17th 2016. The BERLINER LISTE’s Rhineland sister opens for the third year as a forum for young, contemporary art with affordable prices between 500 and 7500 euro. The fair of exploration will almost double on last year’s size and participants, with 84 exhibitors from 15 countries on show. Alongside the classic Art Cologne visitors, young collectors and lifestyle art lovers mingle to learn of new trends and take home original new work.
This year’s location is Cologne’s Carlswerk, which has become the city’s biggest campus for media and industrial arts in recent years. Across over 3000 sqm, the clay brick walls and historic industrial architecture create the ideal space to present modern art works. The GALLERY and ARTIST SECTIONS will once again be curated by art journalist, author and curator, Dr Peter Funken.
New to the KÖLNER LISTE 2016 is the Photography Section, an international platform for photographers with a sense for the extraordinary. This work is curated by Berlin photographer, author and lecturer Stefan Maria Rother, who has selected galleries and artists specialising in photo art. The new Urban Art Section is in the hands of gallery owner and street art aficionado Guillaume Trotin. Vibrant, authentic and non-elite motifs reflect urban life here, and graffiti and street art leave their external concrete walls to provoke interactive dialogue with visitors at the KÖLNER LISTE.
Freshly sealed in time for the KÖLNER LISTE is a new partnership with Absolut Vodka. This brand has been closely tied with art for decades, and the iconic bottles have inspired artists including Keith Haring and Andy Warhol. As part of the brand’s international art engagement sponsoring, the Absolut Art Bar is created and presented by young artists – for the first time as part of an art fair. The “Architecture of the Night” bar by Michele Ormas will be launched at the KÖLNER LISTE. Uniting light staging, stylised wheat fields and retro elements, this bar creates a true nightlife installation stimulating all the senses.
